STAK

STAK IMPROVES PATIENT OUTCOMES & REDUCES RECOVERY TIMES.

STAK Orthopaedics are pleased to be working with a number of hospitals across the UK. Hospitals can request STAKs on long-term trial hire at special rates, please get in touch to find out more

The STAK knee rehabilitation tool is supported by clinical trial and NICE review and has proved progress in both flexion and extension. We have also seen gains of up to 50° knee flexion and a significant reduction in pain in severe cases following MUA or revision surgery. The STAK is currently being used in both NHS and private hospitals.

STAK

GREATER RANGE OF MOVEMENT AND SATISFACTION FOR YOUR PATIENTS IN A SHORTER TIME.

The STAK enables arthrofibrosis patients to regain their range of movement and function whilst also reducing pain and stiffness.

The STAK also demonstrates significant improvements in extension range and reduction in oedema. Experts believe the STAK high-intensity stretching programme is having a beneficial anti-inflammatory effect on the tissues.

The STAK tool is highly effective in treating the most severe arthrofibrosis cases giving patients their quality of life back, even when expensive manipulation under anaesthetic and revision surgery has failed.

The STAK tool allows patients to administer high-intensity treatment daily in the comfort of their home, the STAK is both self-motivating and empowering giving patients the best possible outcomes for their knee.

What Surgeons and Physios Say About the STAK Tool

She only had 62° flexion, I spoke about the STAK and I was surprised that she had reached 108° flexion just a few weeks later

Mr Kareem Elsorafy

Orthopaedic Surgeon, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust

Stiffness in knee replacements is a top priority for management, ongoing innovation is crucial. The STAK really enhances our non-surgical approach to this challenging issue.

Professor Andrew Toms

Consultant Trauma & Ortho, National Clinical Lead for Revision Knee Surgery

It’s just a fantastic, low cost and really effective alternative treatment compared to the traditional treatments we had before. Since we have been using the STAK tool the MUA rates have fallen.

Mr Steven Godsiff

Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon, UHL NHS Trust

The STAK tool provides a measurable outcome improvement. The patients get and maintain extra functions over and above what they normally get.

Professor Robert Ashford

Consultant Musculoskeletal Tumour & Joint Reconstruction Surgeon

The STAK tool can help with patients after recent surgery or even many years after surgery.

Mr Randeep Aujla

Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon

Patients can perform high-intensity stretching in their homes, akin to having a personal physiotherapist. Patients maintain control over the intensity of the stretch and can clearly see progress.

Jack Codd

Physiotherapy Assistant, Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit

In the most challenging cases where traditional methods, such as extensive physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, continuous passive motion (CPM) machine hire, and manipulation under anaesthetic, fell short the STAK proved to be the solution.

Mr. Muhammad Tawfiq Korim

Consultant Knee Surgeon, UHL NHS Trust

STAK

WHY is MY KNEE STIFF?

You may be one of the 20% of patients suffering from arthrofibrosis (stiffness and pain) following the trauma of knee surgery or injury.

Your immune system is overreacting causing scar tissue to be deposited in your knee joint.

The scar tissue will continue to build resulting in severe stiffness, pain and loss of range of movement, impacting severely on your quality of life.

HOW DOES STAK CURE YOUR STIFF KNEE?

The STAK enables you to generate high-intensity stretches which will break down the scar tissue in your knee which is causing you stiffness and pain. Unfortunately, standard physiotherapy exercises do not enable you to generate the intensity of stretch needed to break down the scar tissue.

OUR PATIENTS RESULTS SO FAR…

The results include patients treated anywhere from a few weeks after surgery for as long as 8 years. It’s never too late.

The mean range of movement prior to the STAK was 72° (range 27 to 110 °) mean gain following STAK treatment (4-8 weeks) is 32° (range 12-60°).

We can provide training for your surgeons and physiotherapists if you would like to pilot the STAK contact us…

RESEARCH SUPPORTING THE STAK

In a clinical trial lasting 8 weeks arthrofibrosis patients using the STAK gained on average 30° range of movement compared to patients receiving standard physiotherapy who gained only 8°.

BONE & JOINT OPEN

“The STAK tool increases ROM and function whilst reducing stiffness and pain. This study shows the STAK tool would benefit clinical practice for a cost-effective and professional treatment for arthrofibrosis.”

1st Aug 2020

The NICE Institute

“In a clinical trial patients using the STAK increased their ROM on average
30° compared to receiving standard physiotherapy gained only 8°. The STAK patients also reported greatly reduced knee pain.”

9th Feb 2021

British Association For Surgery of The Knee

The device can be considered a cost-effective and valuable treatment following TKA. This is likely to increase the overall satisfaction rate and has potential to reduce the need for MUA.
